Top 10 Outdoor Advertisers: First Half 2008 Print

In the first half of current year, the main outdoor advertisers were mobile operators MTC, Kyivstar, Ukrainski Radiosystemy, Astelit. Their total share in the Ukrainian outdoor advertising budget made up 6.8%. The second place was taken by tobacco companies J.T.I., Gallaher LTD and British American Tobacco – their total share was 4.7%. Korean electronics producers Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics were the third ones, and their total share amounted to 2.3%. Toyota was the only automobile company, which entered the top-10 list.

The total budget of Ukrainian outdoor advertising in the first half of 2008 amounted to $106.8 million and increased 20.4% year-on-year. Last year, the market grew more dynamically: in the first half of 2007, the total budget of Ukrainian outdoor grew 22.1% year-on-year. Top 10 product group are still the same, but their structure has changed.

MediaExpert advertising agency (Havas Media’s partner) won the tender for Telesystemy Ukrainy telecommunications company (PEOPLEnet trademark) full media services. Tatyana Popova, the Director General at MediaExpert, told this to MediaBusiness. The financial terms of the tender were not disclosed.

Outdoor Advertising: High-Priced Highways Print

Outdoor advertising operators believe that the possible prohibition on advertising near roads will kill their business. They can be forced to take down about 70% outdoor advertising frameworks and, as a result, to loose 72% of  earnings (about $1.2 bn). 350 companies can go bankrupt. The marketers ask deputies and the President not to pass the bill or, at least, to soften it. The second reading of the bill is scheduled on June 5.

Top 10 Outdoor Advertisers: February 2008 Print

This February, the most Ukrainian advertising spaces were occupied by mobile operators’ and tobacco advertising. J.T.I. company gained the lead in the competition of outdoor advertisers and has been keeping its leading status all this month. Much to everyone’s surprise, Kinopalats (Cinema Palace) multiplex entered the Top Ten list. ICTV and Novyi (New) TV channels were included, too, proving the television crowd’s attention to outdoor advertising as a communication channel.

Выполнение предусмотренных в Проекте Закона норм приведёт к демонтажу 70% поверхностей конструкций наружной рекламы Украины. The analysis that in Russia, the advertising investment per head of population is actually 2 times more than in Ukraine.
