On 26 December 2007, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine adopted a resolution on issuing to TRC Ukraina a license for the Futbol TV channel satellite broadcasting. Ihor Kurus, First Deputy Chairman of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, announced the Council’s resolution at the briefing meeting that took place in Ky¿v.

MediaBusiness wrote earlier that on 28 November 2007 the Ukraina TV channel proceeded with an application to obtain a satellite broadcasting license for the Futbol TV channel. It has been known that the TRC Ukraina group intends to launch four thematical TV channels. Futbol TV channel is the second one. It had been reported earlier that TRC Ukraina is preparing a launch of a news TV channel.     

Ukraina TV channel is the nationwide TV channel. It was registered in September 2000. The registered capital of the Ukraina TV channel is UAH 70 million, its targeted audience is 18+. The channel’s share of audience aged > 18 years  for the third quarter 2007 amounted to 5,01%, the share of audience aged 14-49 years was 5,67%. The technical coverage of the channel is 89%, its average daily audience coverage is about 6,9 million people. 99,67% of the TV channel’s stock belongs to ZAO System Capital Management which is controlled by the People’s Deputy Rinat Akhmetov.
