The Independent Association of Broadcasters of Ukraine (NAM) and the Industrial Television Committee (ITK) adopted a decision of the II International Forum “Digital Broadcasting in Ukraine” organization. The Forum is to take place on 19 September 2008. The joint official statement of the companies, which is accessible for MediaBusiness, tells about details of the event.        

All the marketers concerned with the transition of the Ukrainian TV and radio to the digital format, as well as government and business organization, will participate in the Forum. Their colleagues from other countries which have accomplished the transition to the digital format successfully or are still in progress.   

“When making preparations for the first Forum, we aimed to attract attention of all the parties interested and to invite them to begin discussion of problems related to the transition to the digital broadcasting. The second Forum has to be more constructive, it will be dedicated to discussion of the specific governmental, technical, legislative and financial problems which the marketers have met during the last year and which they are going to meet in 2008 year”, says Kateryna Myasnykova, the managing director of the Independent Association of Broadcasters of Ukraine (NAM).   

Kateryna Kotenko, the managing director of the Industrial Television Committee (ITK), puts a special emphasis on the creation of a platform for the dialogue of all business fields and lines representatives, which participate in some way in the process of the transition to the digital broadcasting in Ukraine. In her opinion, such a platform would enable the Ukrainian marketers to accelerate this complex process and to avoid the possible difficulties, relying on the expertise of those countries which have accomplished the transition successfully.         

We remind that the First International Forum “Digital Broadcasting in Ukraine” took place on 26 October 2007. The Torsat company, which was the sponsor of the first Digital Forum, will support the second Forum as well. “We understand clearly the future of the Ukrainian television depends on it multichanneling”, says the Torsat’s director Anatoliy Sal’nyk. “Torsat attaches particular importance to the support of this digital broadcasting project, because it will enable us to suggest the Ukrainian TV viewers more TV channels”.
