The ratings of Inter, 1+1 and ICTV channels’ freshly launched TV series range from 2.84% to 21.22% Print

The end of February is traditionally the season of TV series premieres. The leading Ukrainian TV channels launched their new projects: Koldovskaya Lyubov /Enchanting Love/ and Apostol /Apostle/ by Inter TV channel, Tihy Don /Quietly Flows the Don/ and Tridtsatiletniye /30-Year/ by 1+1 TV channel, and Russky Perevod /Russian Translation/ by ICTV channel. 

The last two episodes of Tatyanin Den /Tatyana’s Day/ TV series (by Amedia, Russia) were broadcasted on Inter TV channel on 24 February. Their rating among TV viewers aged 18 years and over was 22.9%, and the audience share reached 48.84%. The rating among TV viewers aged 14-49 years amounted to 16.94%, and the audience share was 44.0%.

Koldovskaya Lyubov /Enchanting Love/ TV series (by PRO TV company together with Inter TV channel)  was scheduled for the weekdays 20:30 PM time slot on Inter TV channel, which had been earlier occupied by Tatyanin Den /Tatyana’s Day/ TV series. The first two episodes of Koldovskaya Lyubov /Enchanting Love/ series were broadcasted on February 24. Their rating among TV viewers aged 18 years and over was 21.22%, and the audience share reached 45.03%. The rating among TV viewers aged 14-49 years amounted to 15.23%, and the audience share was 36.23%. These numbers were twice higher than the average rates of this time slot: the rating of 8.84% and the audience share of 20.73% among TV viewers aged 18 years and over, and the rating of 6.5% and the audience share of 17.14% among TV viewers aged 14-49 years.           

One more premiere was aired by Inter TV channel on February 25. It was an action series Apostol /Apostle/. Its premiere earned the rating of 9.64% among TV viewers aged 18 years and over, and it gathered the audience share of 25.22%. Its rating among TV viewers aged 14-49 years amounted to 6.46%, and the audience share was 19.18%. These numbers were somewhat lower than the average rates of this time slot in February: the rating of 12.29% and the audience share of 30.31% among TV viewers aged 18 years and over, and the rating of 8.21% and the audience share of 23.46% among TV viewers aged 14-49 years.            

The premiere of Tihy Don /Quietly Flows the Don/ TV series on 1+1 channel was scheduled on the same time that Apostol /Apostle/. The results of Tihy Don /Quietly Flows the Don/ first episode among TV viewers aged 18 years and over were slightly worse than those of Apostol /Apostle/ (the rating of 8.96%, and the audience share of 21.99%), but the situation was contrary among TV viewers aged 14-49 years (the rating of 7.17%, and the audience share of 20.17%). These numbers were somewhat higher than the average rates of this time slot among TV viewers aged 18 years and over (the rating of 6.12% and the audience share of 14.36%), and much higher than the average rates of this time slot among TV viewers aged 14-49 years (the rating of 4.87% and audience share of 13.35%).           

Tihy Don /Quietly Flows the Don/ is the screen adaptation of Mikhail Sholokhov’s novel and the last film directed Sergey Bondarchuk’s work. It was shot by the Mosfilm studio in 1989-1991 years. The project was financed by Vicenzo Rispoli. Tihy Don /Quietly Flows the Don/ premiered on Russian Pervy Kanal /First Channel/ in November 2006.         

Another new project of 1+1 TV channel is Tridtsatiletniye /30-Year/ series. Its first episode was broadcasted on 25 February. Its rating among TV viewers aged 18 years and over was 4.13%, and the audience share reached 16.16%. The rating among TV viewers aged 14-49 years amounted to 3.32%, and the audience share was 14.16%. These numbers were higher than the average February rates of this time slot among TV viewers aged 18 years and over (the rating of 3.97% and the audience share of 13.59%), but a bit lower than the average rates of this time slot among TV viewers aged 14-49 years (the rating of 3.62% and audience share of 13.77%).

ICTV channel opened the new season with an action series Russky Perevod /Russian Translation/. Its first episode, broadcasted on 25 February, earned the rating of 3.12% among TV viewers aged 18 years and over, and gathered the audience share of 7.13%. Its rating among TV viewers aged 14-49 years amounted to 2.84%, and the audience share was 7.57%. These numbers were somewhat lower than the average rates of this time slot in February: the rating of 3.19% and the audience share of 6.97% among TV viewers aged 18 years and over, and the rating of 2.92% and the audience share of 7.56% among TV viewers aged 14-49 years.            

“Studio 1+1” TV channel is the nationwide Ukrainian-language TV channel. In 2007 year, its audience aged 18 years and over amounted to 16.03%. The TV channel covers about 95% of the Ukrainian territory. It was launched in September 1995. In July 2004, “Studio 1+1” started broadcasting on a 24-hour basis. In July 2006, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine extended the channel’s broadcasting license by 10 years. 90% of the company belongs to Central Media Enterprises Ltd. Oleksandr Rodnyansky and Borys Fuksman (Inter Media) own the other 10%. In the first half of 2007 year, the company’s net revenue was $40.78 million, its EBITDA was minus $1.8 million.        

Inter TV channel is the nationwide Ukrainian TV channel with a target audience aged 18 years and over. It was launched in October 1996. The channel has 99.5% of technical coverage (GFK TV panel). It is the part of Inter group of companies, as well as K1, K2, Enter, Enter Film, Megasport and NTN TV channels. The share of audience aged 18 years and over in 2007 reached 22.13%, and the share of audience aged 14-49 was 16.28%. Serhiy Sozanovsky is the Inter TV channel president, and Ganna Bezlyudna is its general producer. The company’s net profit in 2006 year amounted to UAH 123.306 million (approximately $24.4 million). The company’s market capitalization in 2006 year amounted to UAH 372.840 million (approximately $73.8 million). www.inter.ua

ICTV channel (International Commercial Television) is the nationwide Ukrainian TV channel with a target audience aged 14-49 years. It was established on 15 June 1992. The TV channel covers about 93% of the Ukrainian territory. . In 2007 year, its average share of audience aged 18 years and over amounted to 6.82%, and the average share of audience aged 14-49 years was 8.45%. Oleksandr Bohutsky is the ICTV director general.
