Poverkhnost launched paid satellite TV service Print

Poverkhnost company launches Poverkhnost+, a paid satellite TV service. The subscription fee for the package, which includes 60 channels at the moment, is about UAH 100 ($19.80). The sum of investment in the project constitutes “several tens of thousands of US dollars”.

In the Ukrainian market of paid satellite TV, Poverkhnost will compete with NTV Plus and Viasat. The cheapest package of NTV Plus in Ukraine costs UAH 96.5 per month. Viasat entered the Ukrainian market, offering three packages of TV channels (Semeyny [Family], Populyarny [Popular] and Prestizhny [Prestigious]) which cost UAH 48, UAH 85 and UAH 135 respectively. However, according to Oleksandra Zholdakova, the Head of Marketing Department of Viasat, for the time being her company does not regard Poverkhnost as a competitor.

Viktor Samiylenko, the President of Poverkhnost, told that the company enters the market with only one package of channels, and its subscription fee amounts to about $20. When forming the package, special attention was given to sports. Also the package includes film, entertainment, educational, news, music, child channels, and  most main Ukrainian channels in excellent quality.

The company expects that in five years a number of subscribers will amount to 500,000 (by pessimistic estimates) or even 2,000,000 (by optimistic estimates).
