Harper’s Bazaar goes to Ukraine |

During the next half year the national version of Harper's Bazaar, an
American weekly women’s magazine, may launch in Ukraine. The potential publisher is IM Ukraina, a subsidiary of Independent Media Sanoma Magazines publishing house.
Yulia Stefanyshyna, the Director-General of IM Ukraina, neither
confirmed nor dispelled this information. “Officially, I can’t confirm or
dispel this. But yes, negotiations are under way. A situation will be clear in
a month or another”.
Independent
Media publishing house was established in 1992 by Dirk
Sauer (Holland).
At the present time this publishing house publishes more than 30 magazines in
Russia, including such magazines as Cosmopolitan, Domashniy Ochag (‘Hearth and
Home’), Men’s Health, Smart Money, and also a number of newspapers, including
Vedomosti (‘Journal’) and Moscow Times. At the beginning of 2005 year, Sauer
sold the company to the Finnish group SanomaWSOY for EUR142 million. The publishing
house was renamed as Independent Media Sanoma Magazines. Sanoma
Magazines publishes altogether more than 270 magazines in 12 European
countries, and it has about 4,5 thousand employees. Independent
Media works in Ukraine
from 1999. It publishes the Ukrainian versions of such magazines as
Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health, Prevention. The net sales of SanomaWSOY amounted to
EUR247,6 million in 2006.
