Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine demands substantiations from Volia-Cable Print

Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (ACU) demands from Volia-Cable substantiations of the fee for digital cable TV service. ACU gave provider two weeks to provide all necessary information. If Volya’s substantiation would be considered by ACU as insufficient, provider will pay millions hrivnas as the fine. 

“If Volya didn’t gave us enough arguments on current issue, ACU could mulcts provider with fine equal to 10% of company’s year turnover”, - said Bohdan Yakimyuk, head of press office at ACU. Volias income in 2007 was about UAH 279 mln.

Chief director at Volia Andrey Metelsky is confident, that his company is able to give any necessary substantiations to ACU. “We always have substantiations for our prices, what is more, we gave them to ACU last fall”, - Metelsky said.

Volia is the telecommunication services provider in Ukraine, that was established in 2000. It offering conventional analog cable television, digital TV and high-speed Internet. The company employs about 1600 people. Company’s income in 2007 was about UAH 279 mln., net profit – abou UAH 8 mln.

Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is the state authority with special status, aimed at providing the state protection to competition in the field of entrepreneurial activity.
