“Megasport” didn’t buy sublicense for Olympics broadcasting from NTCU Print

“Perviy Nazional`niy” (First National) TV channel  and Megasport” TV channel couldn’t reach an agreement for acquiring sublicense for broadcasting ÕÕ²Õ Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. This forced Perviy Nazional`niy to decrease it prices on sponsorship package.

Channel started negotiations on current issue in May 2008, but recently Megasport refused to buy the sublicense. Inter (Megasport’s parental company) and it Megasport denied to provide comments on reasons of such decision. It is possible, that channel was dissatisfied with interrelation between price on sublicense and rights that it could have with this license.

There is no information on sublicense price, but according to first vice-president at NTCU Mykhail Koblya, Perviy Nazional`niy paid $0,9 mln. for exclusive rights on broadcasting Olympic Games.
