Pershy Natsionalny (First National) TV channel bought the exclusive right to broadcast the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics which take place in China on 8-24 August. This right cost $900,000, according to Mikhail Koblya, the first vice-president of the National Television Company of Ukraine.

Pershy Natsionalny [First National], or UT-1, is the National TV company of Ukraine. It was established in 1939 year. The channel is oriented at people aged 18 years and over, its technical coverage reaches 97%. The share of audience aged 18 and over reached 4.37% in June 2008. The technical coverage reaches 97%. Vasyl Ilaschuk is the acting president of the National Television Company of Ukraine.
