UAPP struggle for the freedom of information, - by MediaBusiness Print

Ukrainian Association of Press Publishers (UAPP) under financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) launched new project that dedicated to amplification of the access to official information for mass media.

Under the project UAPP will provide legal support to the publishers, editors and journalists of printed press in the matters of access to official information.

 

During nearest six month (from July till December 2008) all relevant questions could be addressed to UAPP’s legal counsel via phone – 8 044 425-57-87 or/and e-mail - lawyer@uapp.org.

Furthermore, in the first dates of August UAPP is to launch on its web-site “Media-law library”. In this library UAPP will aggregate and systematize information concerned with rights of mass media representatives to access to official information and obligations of government bodies in this issue.

 

Ukrainian Association of Press Publishers (UAPP) is a voluntary non-governmental and non-profit organization of the press publishers, that was founded on March, 2001. UAPP is the first independent union of publishers in Ukraine, which declared its commitment to advocacy and support of publishing business. The mission of UAPP is to unite publishers of newspapers and magazines in order to create newspaper market based on civilized principles and develop the publishing business by lobbing the common interest and qualified service for every member of Association. UAPP is a member of WAN (World Association of Newspapers). More than 100 companies are members of the UAPP.

 

International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) is an integral part of the International Soros network which incorporates national and regional foundations in more than thirty countries around the world, primarily in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the former Soviet Union. IRF is the Ukraine's one of the largest charity organization, that was founded in April 1990. Its main objective is to provide financial and operational assistance to the development of an open and democratic society in Ukraine by supporting key civic initiatives in this area.
