Inter TV channel is going to invest in Viy about $1.5 million and to spend $42 million on its advertising, - by Ekonomicheskie Izvestiya Print

The shooting period of a film after the mysterious Nikolay Gogol’s story of the same name is moving towards its end. The film is being shot according to the first (unedited and censor-free) version of the book. The film is to be shown in March 2009 (200 years after Nikolay Gogol’s birthday).

  The film with a budget of $21 million is being produced by ROSPOfilm Group, a Russian cinema company. Co-producers are Inter TV channel and KARO Production company. Inter TV channel is going to invest in Viy about $1.5 million and to spend $42 million on its advertising. A possibility of Viy’s international distribution in partnership with one of the world’s leading distributors is being considered. The Czech experts who have created many Hollywood blockbusters as Van Helsing, Brothers Grimm, Bourne Identity are engaged into the shooting process: Vladimir Smutny, Jarmila Konecna, Karel Vanyasek. The cast is impressive as well: Valery Zolotuhin, Nina Ruslanova, Aleksey Chadov, andrey Smolyakov, Yury Tsurylo, Aleksandr Yakovlev and others.
