«Dancing for you» at 2.5 million dollars – «MediaBusiness» Print

On Saturday, November 8th, «1+1» TV channel has finished the project “Dancing for you”, a release of Mexican «Dance for a dream» format.  As distinct from previous project “Dances with the stars”, made by “Star Media” company, the “Dancing for you” was produced by the TV channel by its own efforts.  As project’s producer Ivanna Dyadyura reported to “MediaBusiness”, the «1+1» channel has spent 2.5 million dollars on production of this project.

According to her, the project’s participants, who dance to make a loved ones’ dream come true, were being chosen by directors and choreographs during almost three months. During two months seven dancing pairs drop out of the competition, and the project by itself was seriously criticized by both the TV audience and experts. Ivanna Dyadyura assured that it was not unexpected for the project’s creators: «We had such a presentiment as right before we conducted very successful glamour dances, and most probably, the viewer was expecting something similar, but saw a different picture, - she said. There was such a deep aspect in this show, that the audience could be easily disquieted».

It is unknown for now whether it will be sequel or not. The TV channel press office assures the decision will be made during next two weeks. At the same time, according to Ivanna Dyadyura, if “Dancing for you-2” fails, the channel film crew may start producing documental films. «At the very beginning of its way «1+1» used to pay serious attention to the documental film genre, - says Dyadyura.  I have no idea how it turns now, but one thing I can say for sure. We had a conversation with the top management, which confirmed the experience of our crew as sufficient for implementing the documental film projects, the studio is planning to launch».

Average daily audience during first half of 2008 was 16,74%, rating – 2,58% (18+, Ukraine-wide). By audience purchase power (18+, Cities 50+) Segment – 12,81%, Rating – 1,89%.
