NewspaperDirect sales in Ukraine have grown 23% - «MediaBusiness» Print

The world leader in distribution of newspapers and magazines NewspaperDirect has reported first results of its operation in Ukraine. By October 2008 results, the volume of foreign press sales in Ukraine has grown 23% totaling 4 thousand newspapers approximately.

As Head of Representative Office Alexander Dikusarov said, monthly newspapers’ sales growth is 23-25%, and by results of October, the company reached 4 thousand copies in sales. “We expect this dynamic to continue in both November and December resulting into 6000-8000 copies to be sold in Kiev monthly,” Mr. Dikusarov said.

Let us recall starting August 1st, 2008 the “AS-Media” company has started its operation under the license of international company NewspaperDirect, specializing in printed media distribution in more than 80 countries and 38 languages at the day of appearance. Prior to NewspaperDirect came onto Ukrainian market, the foreign newspapers were delivered to our country by plane causing 24 hours delay in sales availability. Different to that schedule, NewspaperDirect delivers newspapers early morning (6:30 am – 9 am) on the day of appearance in their countries, as prints foreign newspapers in Ukraine. Besides that, the technology allows to attract Ukrainian advertisers into these foreign media.

Monthly subscription on newspapers is approximately equal to the cost of the titles bought in Europe and delivered by air mail. However, the cost is even lower by several positions. “We can deliver even one newspaper to our client not forcing him to subscribe for 1, 3 or 6 months. Thus, the cost of one newspaper is about $2.5-3,” Dikusarov said.

According to him, there are about 20-25 most popular titles, among them Liberation, Le Monde (France),  Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Der Tagesspigel, Naftemporiki (Greece), Kommersant (Russia), Alhayat (Arab), Gazeta Wyborcza (Poland), Milliyet (Turkey), USA Today (USA), La Repubblica (Italy), Wall Street Journal,  The Guardian,  The Times, Mainichi Shimbun (Japan), Hurriyet (Turkey), Daily Telegraph (UK), New York Times (USA), Financial Times (UK).

NewspaperDirect is a world leader in distribution of newspapers and magazines. The company was founded in 1999.
