How much time do Ukrainians spend on media? Print

According to the results of TNS Ukraine’s survey over a period of Spring/Summer 2007 (MMI Ukraine 2007/1+2), the Ukrainian people spend nearly 2,5 hours per day sitting by their TV sets. The Ukrainians from 12 to 65 years spend about 17 hours per week watching TV, 7 hours 40 min – listening to the radio, 77 min – reading daily newspapers, 71 min – surfing the Internet. A person on an average goes on foot 10 hours 36 min per week – this allows us to calculate the duration of the potential visual contact with outdoor advertising. As a rule, traveling by public and private transport takes about 4 hours 18 min per week, by underground – about 16 min,  visiting supermarkets – 1 hour 32 min, and visiting cinemas – nearly 9 min. Also Ukrainians give about 51 min per week to reading weekly magazines and newspapers, and about 37 min – to reading monthly magazines.

Marketing&Media Index Ukraine – study of Ukraine’s population media consumption and preferences. General population: Ukrainian cities’ population from 12 to 65 years (cities with population from 50, 000). Procedure: 5, 000 respondents’ quarterly survey by the questioning and interviewing methods. On the recommendation of TNS Ukraine company, the linked data set of MMI Ukraine 2007/1+2 (Spring/Summer) is used, where the selective population amounts to 10, 000 respondents.  

TNS Ukraine – network marketing agency, included in the TNS international group of companies (London, Great Britain). TNS Ukraine is founded in 2002 by the merger of two Ukrainian marketing agencies – SOCIS and MMI Ukraine. SOCIS company went into the TNS group of companies in 1999, and MMI Ukraine – in 2001.
